Chenery and Company is a boutique consulting organization that works with senior executives across a variety of industries to design and implement strategies that address the development of human capital. Its focus is on education, education to employment, and workforce development to build 21st century work skills for individuals so that they can pursue meaningful careers that will enable them to compete and thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Peter’s expertise is grounded in over 30 years working in the investment banking industry, as a management consultant for Strategic Decisions Group (a spinoff of SRI International), and in senior leadership roles at both private and public education institutions. In his early career, he focused on the application of technology to financial services, utilities, supply chain, manufacturing, media, and healthcare. The insights he developed working with the human side of technology and aligning business processes to support a rapidly changing competitive environment, along with his research on social networking theory and distributed work, has led to management consulting roles advising senior leadership responsible for provisioning the 21st century workforce. Most recently, Dr. McAliney led the effort that introduced blockchain and cyber security curricula into Montclair State University’s Continuing and Professional Education portfolio (montclair.edu/cape).
Dr. McAliney also pursues an active research agenda and is a published author. His co-authored Painless Project Management (Wiley, 2007) is employed by professionals who are thrust into project management roles that need only the basic knowledge to run a successful project. More recently, he co-edited Discourses on Business Education at the College Level (Touro Press, 2019), which addresses the relationship between academia and the realities of applying academic knowledge in the workplace. In his research pursuits, he works with the private sector, professional organizations, and his colleagues to look at the organizational implications of new technologies in the workplace and to develop programs that will equip an increasingly diverse workforce with those skills associated with lifelong learning, which is critical for career success.
